help needed understanding 1841 census

1841 census ridgeway lane stockport - folio 7 page 5 roll 241245
the family of interest is turner - it reads:-
samuel turner aged 60 carter - not born in county
catherine turner age 55 factory hand - not born in county
george turner age 15 factory hand - born in county
james turner age 15 factory hand - born in county
hannah turner age 10 - born in county
hannah turner age 20 - born in county
sarah turner age 1 - born in county
hannah turner age 5 - born in county

how can there be 3 x hannah with different ages Huh or am i being stuppid ??

One of the difficulties with the 1841 census is that relationships are not given.

So do not assume that the yuonger ones are sons and daughters.
They could be nephews, nieces, grandchildren etc etc.

Also the ages of adults were rounded, usually down to the next 5 yrs (20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 etc), but this can be a bit hit and miss.

So - the 20 yr old Hannah MAY be twenty-something.
She COULD be the mother of the two little ones.

but you can never assume anything.

You need to dig deeper and enjoy investigating further to sort out who they all are!

Looking at the image there is also a 20 yr old Joseph Turner.
He is sort of in the H/H above, but it looks very much as if the break has been put in the wrong place.

So another possiblity is that he is married to the 20 yr old Hannah, who is therefore a dtr in law. The 10 yr old HAnnah is a dtr. The 5 yr old Hannah a grandaughter.

But that is only a theory
