The village owes much to the Leslie family of Tarbert House. They developed it from the mid 1700's when one of the members of the family was high-sherriff of Kerry. www.sheehanfamilytree.ie/finucane.asp

Thank-you for those links Christopher - my ancestor Patrick Grady was born in Tarbert  circa 1832 to a John Grady and Catherine Healy.
