Hi, Everyone, In the 1891 Census I have Alfred HARRIS aged 26 with his wife Emma aged 20 and son Frederick aged 1 living in High St Henlow. Alfred and son were born there, and Emma (nee Beaumont) was born in Langford nearby. I'm pretty sure they stayed in Henlow, but am unable to open up the pages for Henlow on Ancestry, for some inexplicable reason. I cannot find the family through a general search of the 1901, so fear that their surname may have been mistranscribed. I know there would have been at least another son Alfred Charles, who was born in July 1891. Can anyone spot them for me? Many thanks, keith

Thanks so much for finding this for me, Mum44! And it is entirely the correct household. Had no idea that Alfred HARRIS sen. had died so early in his life - and the Charles in the household is undoubtedly Alfred Charles HARRIS, whose birth certificate I received today through the post, stating that he was born on 28th July 1891... keith Quite a household of widowed ladies for Alfred Charles to grow up in, with his grandmother Eliza living there too. Must look to see when grandfather Thomas HARRIS died now...

Hi Keith
When I see High St, Henlow mentioned in a post I get all excited, having been born at number 72!
I have these Harris's in my tree - Alfred, son of Thomas (and Eliza Bywaters), son of Thomas and Sarah. Thomas snr was my 3xg grandfather, via his eldest daughter Mary. If you'd like a report on them just send me your email in a PM
Henlow MIs give a death of Alfred as 1 Jan 1900 age 36 and Emma as 1 Nov 1935 age 79. Thomas Harris died in the Dec quarter 1883 aged 64, but there's no MI (at least not in Henlow)
Kind regards
David

A pint of decent English ale will slip down down a treat, preferably warm, not iced!
After all the trips up the hill to CCRO you've made for my lookups, it's great to be able to reciprocate.
All the best
David

Bedfordshire Boy, Forgot to thank you on here for that lovely file you PM-ed me earlier with details of the HARRIS family back to 1720. Most appropriate to be relying on you in this particular county. Although it's a neighbouring one to Cambs, and I pass through it on all journeys westwards, very rarely go ancestor hunting there. (Apart from a recent foray in search of John Bunyan). Now, I think I've got a question or two about Salop, so where's that Shropshire Lad hiding on here...? keith p.s. Nice to think that certain strands of the HARRIS family ended up in wonderful farflung places such as Carcassonne and Copenhagen (I can feel a song coming on)
