i really need some advice - i want to order a marriage certificate from the 1960's, of my grandmother but we don't seem to be able to find a date.
How can i go about getting this certificate?
She is deceased, her name is Grace Enid, she married Harold Rigby ( also deceased). Her maiden name was Morse but i know she married once before but i don't know his name. I don't therefore know what name she used when she was married a second time, it could have been her maiden name or her first married name.
I have found her birth on ancestry mar 1915 cheshire, she was also married in cheshire to harold rigby.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

There's nothing on freebmd so you will need to search the full GRO index which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK. It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite
She was b 1915 so you need to search from about 1932
Be thankful she wasn't a Smith or a Jones as there won't be many Grace Enid Morse entries
Once you have the surname of her first husband, you can then search for her marriage to Rigby
i have looked on ancestry but cannot find the marriages.
just talking to my father, he thinks the first marriage was early 60's and then the second was late 60's. harold rigby died before 1974, we know that is true.
i have just been looking at photos and we think we know which church they were married at...................
the same one as me incidently, of which i had no idea!! i live in the area, is it possible to look tat parish records to find a date and then i can order the cert?
That is the point of Sara's query - Grace would have married Rigby under her first married name and it is that first marriage that is needed to establish who she married
She was only born in 1915 so would not have married her first husband until after 1932
