Hi Cindy

I've found a couple of things you might get your teeth into  Smiley  hope so anyway Smiley

The recent search engine produced for the Eskdale & Liddesdale Advertiser (ELA), which was originally published in Langholm, provides some relevant information for you.  Go to
http://www.langholmarchive.org.uk/  and simply enter Buchanan in the People box.

The 1851 census for D & G is at http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/historicalindexes/census.aspx
You should find John and Elizabeth and family in Middlebie.

Hello Berryuser,
Welcome to the Dumfriesshire board  Smiley

Can you give us any dates, please?   How did you find out that James Buchanan was a farmer in Ewes?

Hope we can help.

I have a Watt family who seemed to travel around.

Robert Watt married Catherine Scott in Canobie in 1829
so I am presuming it is possible they came from this
area.

Can you find any deaths for Scott and Watt in the Canobie
reqisters.
