Thank you for your time Joy and Sylvia. The Avoch site is wonderful to take a look at. Lots of great photos. Finally I have something more on David and Margaret Jack. I was finding it a bit confusing having so many people with the same names to file through. This is great news. Thank you again. Heather

Dear Joy, You have brought tears to my eyes.I feel so emotional. My Father died a couple of years ago. He never spoke much about his family and we realised too late that we never asked many questions. We have no extended family here in Australia and don't really know relatives in the UK{ on my Father's side}. I tried contacting the Avoch web site mentioned above, to try and see if anyone remembered Dad and his family but the information that I finally got back, didn't really seem to fit. I know I've said it before but thank you so very much. Heather Jack

Me again Heather
Alexander Jack married Catherine Jack m/s Jack 8 Nov 1821 Avoch. I cannot view the OPR marriages on S P for 1821. They are available but only by ordering an extract for 10 GBPounds. Same applies to Donald and Flora's marriage, they give you the dates but you can't view them. The OPR's would probably/usually give you the wife's father's name. In the meantime here are the children (may not be all) for Alexander and Catherine:
Alexander MacKenzie Jack b 16 Sep 1823 bapt 27 Sep 1823 Donald Jack b 1 May 1825 bapt 19 May 1825 Alexander JAck b 11 Aug 1828 bapt 21 Aug 1828 Catherine Jack b 21 Oct 1830 bapt 7 Jan 1831
Margaret Jack b 30 Sep 1832 bapt 3 Oct 1832 ( your GG/Grandmother ) Alexander Jack b 3 Jan 1835 bapt 23 Jan 1835 Simon Jack b 3 Jan 1835 bapt 23 Jan 1835 (Twins? ) Mary JAck b 12 Dec 1838 bapt 16 Feb 1839 Isabella Jack b 5 Nov 1841 bapt 8 Jan 1842
I hope that this will be of help to you
Joy
PS I'll start on the census hunt - perhaps tomorrow

Dear Joy, Sorry that you are spending so much time on this for me. It is fabulous though and I am extremely appreciative. You have made me very happy. I wish I was able to share all of this with Dad. When I saw on one of the certificates the address of"Factor Lane", I was over joyed ,as this was one of the things I did know, as Dad grew up in this house. Thank you again so very much. Heather

Heather
1891 Census Avoch h/hold sched 18
1 Factory Lane
Margaret Jack widow 58 yrs Fishermans widow Flora unm dau 31 yrs imbecile David unm son 19 yrs fisherman
David was neither an employer nor an employee but was working on his own account.
This is the first indication that there was anything wrong with Flora, though there was provision for that description on the 1871 census. I wonder if perhaps she'd had an accident or illness between '71 & '81 census?

Heather
1901 Census Avoch H/hold sched 25
6 Factory Lane
Margaret Jack widow 67 yrs
The above entry on the census is her son Donald & family also at 6 Factory Lane, so she was obviously living with them.
No sign of Flora, perhaps she died or was in an asylum.
I will send you the census images tonight or tomorrow.
Anything else I can help you with?
Joy

Hi Joy, You have been extremely busy.I've just finished work and now have a few days off to go through all this information. You have been too kind. Thank you again. I feel so greedy asking you this but are you able to find out anything about David Jack's wife, Ann {Annie} Cowie. She was born 27/07/1874 to Alexander and Jane { Morrison} Cowie. She died 14/12/1953. I believe the Cowie's came from around Macduff or Banff maybe. She brought up my Father and he stayed with her until her death. It makes you hungry to know more. It would be great to spend time with each of these people, to be able to put a face to these names and know a bit of their history. I hope you have a great day. You have helped me and my family greatly. We'll have lots to talk about when we all get together this weekend.Thank you from all of us. Heather
