Mathew Steel/Grace Templeton

Mathew Steel born 1809  & Grace Templeton born 1813  were both born Kilmaurs, Ayr and married there on July 12, 1834.

Can someone please help me in finding parents for them, I have hit a dead end and can't even find children born to them.

           Parish Kilmaurs- ED 7- Line 22 Year 1861

Grace Steel head age 51
Hugh son age 25 occ cotten weaver
John son age 18 occ cotten weaver
Margaret dau age 18 occ cotten weaver
Gabriel son age 14 occ cotten weaver
Robert son age 10 scholar

All b Kilmaurs, Address Irvine Vennal

  If this her then here she is in 1871 spelt Stell
    Parish Kilmaurs- ED 7- Line 2- Year 1871

Margaret Stell dau age 28

Mathew Steell grandson age 3 ( mother Margaret)

Hello Sue,

Thank you for your reply, my Grace Templeton was transported to Van Diemens Land in 1835 she came down as Templeton and single.

Her convict conduct report also has under her name (McCluskie) not sure what that means, is it her maiden name or married name? I am still trying to work that one out,  also under that it has...... Dumfries.......not sure what that means either.

 Other documents have her down as being married when she was transported but I have nothing to go on only that she was born in Ayr, Scotland.

I will keep searching.
