MIs in Ross-shire
« on: Saturday 03 May 08 14:52 BST (UK) »

There's a useful site with a list of burials in Ross-shire here http://www.freewebs.com/boogiechick/
The site owner is happy to provide photos and complete inscriptions; leave a message in the guest book noting graveyard and headstone number.

Good contact. I posted a request and got the answer in 1 hour. Best of all, it gave me a death that's impossible to find in Scotlands People due to some indexing problem I guess.

can anyone advise whether or not this MIs site is still active?
I've tried to access it off and on for the last 5 hours with no joy so far
I'm Looking for Jane FAIRBAIRN nee PAXTON or PATTON, probably died at Lochcarron.
In the 1841 census living at the Lochcarron Manse with (presumably her grddtr) Margaret MacKENZIE, and two others of her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Peter FAIRBAIRN.
And also for any sightings in Urray or Stornoway of other FAIRBAIRNs from this family:
Peter and Jane's sons John (born 1788 Coldingham), James (born 1791 Coldingham), William (born 1794), Peter (born 1795), Francis (born 1798), Thomas (born 1800), these last 4 all born Bra(h)an Castle, Urray .
William looks like he married Beatrix HAY and the family disappears after the 1851 census, the rest I've not found beyond their birth/baptism entries as yet.
(I checked the other R&C site with the wonderful headstone photos etc, the MacKENZIE relations appear to be there, but not, as yet, this lot).
