Decided to go through the census records and get an idea of the birth date range according to Edwards age at the time, well Edward either kept his true age a secret or they made a mistake every single time.

1841 census he is aged 25 making him born around 1816
1851 census he is aged 38 making him born around 1813
1861 census he is aged 49 making him born around 1812

His death in 1870 has his age as 58 years making him born also around 1812. Why are things never easy, was hoping for a nice big 1809 every single time.

For some reason I just keep going back to the Edward born in 1814, Annette did it mention if the other twin James also died.

Cheers

Just a thought,  Cheesy

Your Melksham might have been Mendlesham.
Mendlesham is not far from Walsham-le-Willows.

The South Elmhams are usually referred to just by their own parish name, so you find

Southelmham All Saints with St Nicholas
Southelmham St Cross (Sancross or Sancroft)
Southelmham St James
Southelmham St Margaret
Southelmham St Michael
Southelmham St Peter

The Ilketshalls are right by the Southelmhams
Ilketshall St Andrew, St John, St Lawrence and St Margaret.

As we say in Suffolk, they are up in 'Bow and Arrow country'  Wink

Sorry I haven't responded before.   BT line went dead and as still on dial-up unable to go on internet.   Now sorted thank goodness.

No, there was no burial for Edward's 'twin' James listed.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Nari,

Just been doing a look-up for someone else in Walsham le Willows and came across this baptism entry:

Name Edward CRICKMAY relationship son of Parents John & Ann Date 22 Jul 1813 Notes – Parish Beccles St Michael

I know the name is not Crickmore but is could be the right one, date is about right, and St. Michaels could be St Michs Huh  anyway, IF this is yours, it may explain why you have had no luck before!  Spellings depended on the scholar and their hearing and phonetics - so a possibility!

Wow, thanks Yvonne, this is the closest in birth date that I've had so far and very excited to hear, I have done alot of research with different variants to Crickmore but never with Crickmay, certainly worth checking into.

Thankyou to everyone who has replied to my post, the information has been great and all very helpful, will be going through everything bit by bit and will certainly let you all know what I find, hoping this is the year that I can finally find out more about my GGG Grandparents and if I do it will all be thanks to the wonderful members of this site that spend so much time helping.

Cheers
