Hi Rick

I think Perro must mean the hamlet of Chilton, near Clare.
This is on the road out of Clare going towards Hundon. It is actually called Chilton Street. As far as I know church records for people living there were/are incorporated into Clare church.

Chilton St Mary is a redundant church, open to the public a couple of times a year and they have a flower festival once a year.

The vicar is the same as Great Waldingfield and Acton and all three parishes have all been difficult to access.  The new-ish rector may not even realise this exists.

By the way, just outside of Clare is the hamlet of Chilton Street, which is sometimes muddled up with the parish of Chilton near to Sudbury.

Doh !!!!!

Just realised on the next page dear owd Suffolk Sue hev already told you about Chilton Street.

I will just go and take myself off to bed  Roll Eyes

Both Parishes have a great significance as in James WILL of c1838 it begins I James Golding of Great Waldingfield and Chilton is next door. James got married in Clare near Chilton Street also in Will he gives the farm as in the Manor of Chilton so its all relevant and I must get round to making a order for some fiche and see where we go from there.

Undecided

Thanks everbody ....
