Hi Keeweegal
Yes, I see John Gunning HERRON died 1914.
Just out of curiosity - was there a daughter named "Jane Morrow HERRON" ?

Rounding up ancestors can be hard work!!

Hi Lu, You are quite right, she is a daughter, also Esther Florence Herron and a Lillian Herron. Esther Florence is my Gr Grandmother.
Cheers

Hi Keeweegal ("Canty" - a great place to come from)
Have found a Jane HERRON buried in Wellington - 1937. BUT ... unfortunately, no age at death, shown on the cemetery record.
(See "Wellington Cemeteries" link on first page of this board).
Did any of Jane's children perhaps reside in Wellington ?
(My thoughts were that if Jane had outlived her husband, then in her widowhood she may have gone to live with other family members, possibly outside of Christchurch) ?

Hi Lucy2
A Great thought, however I think there was another Jane Herron residing in Wellington (according to the 1893 Electoral Roll. I will check. Her childrens names were Lillian, Esther and Jane. Esther lived in Hanmer Springs, so possibly one of the others, I think they may have had more children, but unable to find them. I will peruse your idea though, one never knows!!
Thanks for your help.

Hi Keeweegal
There is a Jane MORROW on this voyage to Lyttelton 1863 - "Zealandia" :
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ourstuff/Zealandia1863.htm
Mmm... this "Jane" listed as "2nd cabin" passenger ?
AND .... Grrrrrr .... no further details of age, place of origin etc.
Also ... there is a "Mary MORROW" listed in steerage ?
[A possibility perhaps ? Death record (when you eventually get to that stage) - should give "number of years in NZ" which might lead to finding more precisely when Jane arrived].

In case you do not have this.
Jane Morrow Herron m Charles Henry Taylor in 1908. (Folio 7551)
In Hutt Valley Cemetery there is a burial record for Jane Morrow Herron Taylor, died 6 July 1962, and Jane Morrow Taylor died 7 July 19??
These names probably worth checking.

Great work Jean !
The Hutt Valley burial looks to be the daughter (the one I'd asked about earlier).
So, a daughter living in the Wellington area .... perhaps the "Jane" buried at Karori is the mother ?
I'll see if I can locate funeral notices for each.

Hi Keeweegal
Some further checking reveals that the Jane HERRON buried at Wellington's Karori Cemetery (1937), was in fact a lady aged 60 yrs. So unfortunately, not the Jane we are looking for.
But some better news.
Have located a funeral notice for (daughter) Jane Morrow TAYLOR, died 1962.
TAYLOR : Jane (Jenny) - died at Masterton - 7 July 1962. d/l wife of Charles Henry - loved mother of Arthur, Ethel, Doris, Isabel, Charles, Edward and Marjorie. Buried, Taita Cemetery, Hutt Valley, Wellington : [Will PM you a transcript].
[Incidentally, I think the listing which Jean found, probably just relates to one burial - that of Jane Morrow TAYLOR (nee HERRON)? But I stand to be corrected on that. ]
The search continues.
