In the Canada death index:
Annie Boam, died Hamilton Wentworth 22 January 1870, 8 days after childbirth Age 24, born England.
If this is Silas' Annie, he could then have remarried in Buffalo.

The Denver Evening Post, (Denver, CO) Tuesday, April 18, 1899; pg. 5; col B Topeka, KS, April 18: Gertrude Boam, the 19-year-old daughter of Dr. A. S. Boam, of this city, took an overdose of strychnine this morning and died in a few minutes. She had been ill for some time, and her father had been giving her morphine to allay her pain. She had an attack this morning and took strychnine instead of morphine.
http://comres.tscpl.org/ - indexes the obituary of Dr Silas A. Boam in 1916
In 1880, I think they are in Buffalo as Silas and Charlotte Boon, both born England, and he is still a machinist.
http://www.kshs.org/genealogists/individuals/physicians/index.htm - mentions him in 1887, 1893-1899. Apparently full information from this source may give you info on number of years in practice and medical school attended, among other info.
