Hmm... there's a Charles F. Church in Hamilton in 1881, C. Traveller, wife Emily A. He was born Ontario, but was younger than Annie, so it's possible they moved over when she was little.
On the 1871 census heads of household index, Elizabeth Church, 46, b. England, has the same reference as Silas Boam - possibly he was living with her? This could be the mother-in-law, (Mary) Elizabeth Church (nee?).

and it would have been post 1881, so he achieved this in less than four years... in 1881 as BONN - Buffalo, Erie, N.Y

Interesting...I saw the other Boam names, but I haven't access to the census, so I didn't know there was a Pearl ( Here as marrying a lifelong family friend, not an adopted child ) Is Benjamin K. his as well?  http://www.rootschat.com/links/03d6/
