There is a Charles F. Church who died in 1892 out in Winnipeg Manitoba age 44

That 1901 census listing for Annie Church and the Dunlop family was in Winnipeg.

I now have an image of that 1895 census page and I can see the transcriber's difficulty - see this crop - I can just about make out Charlotte P but the name above is indecipherable:

No I don't Karen, and I've been trying to figure out how to get a copy from the Vital Statistics Office in Buffalo (I'm in UK). The Vitalchek credit card service can only provide certificates back to 1890. So I'd have to apply by post I suppose, with an international money order.

All I have at the moment is the church record extract from the LDS site.

The nice people at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library are going to mail me copies of the obituaries they hold for the Boam family. I've also asked them to do a look-up in their 1886 Kansas Medical Directory.

My package of goodies arrived today from the library in Topeka.

The 1916 obit of Dr Silas A Bohm, aged 70, confirms that he was born in Derby and studied medicine in America, and had practised in Topeka for "nearly 30 years".

He's not listed in the 1886 Directory of Kansas Physicians.

We have a discrepancy. The birth certificate of Silas Boam arrived today:

Silas born in Derby, 9 January 1846 parents Thomas Boam, twist hand, and Sarah (nee Bullock).

Those are my Boam relatives.

But according to the Shawnee County Archives the Silas Boam buried at Topeka cemetery had a birth date of December 20 1840. http://files.usgwarchives.org/ks/shawnee/cemeteries/topeka/b004.txt

That date appears to be the one engraved on his headstone. http://www.rootschat.com/links/03cy/

So do I have the wrong Silas? The evidence along the trail seems sound enough. The year of birth in the burial record seems clearly wrong, and is possibly a mistranscription.
But the date? Surely the family wouldn't have got his birthday wrong?

Well, the marriage in Ontario is definatly him, as it has his parents name on it.

Do any of the US census give birthdates on them?  I know the 1901 in Canada gives the birthdate.

Would be great if you could get that marriage in New York.
