Sussex Record Society
« on: Monday 05 May 08 19:55 BST (UK) »

Hello

I have been looking at the excellent site for the Sussex Record Society and have found several relatives listed in their Poor Law Database. There is a publication available of the Mid Sussex Poor Law Records and before I go ahead and order it I wondered if anyone knew whether this would give more information than that listed on the database also whether the parishes of Lindfield, Cuckfield and East Grinstead would be included.

Many Thanks

Hello Redcat,

Going by the summary, Cuckfield and East Grinstead are included, so I would assume that, being in the middle, Lindfield would be as well.

You are probably better off contacting them to find out whether they are full transcriptions of the records, or just summaries, repeating what is on the WSRO catalogue.

If you do find out, I'd like to know as well. There are several Gatten/Gatton entries on the database.

Thanks Phil

I did try the email contact given several days ago but no reply so I thought I would try Rootschatters instead. I may have to just bite the bullet and order it! If I do get it I will let you know the extent of the information given.

Thanks Redcat.

There are two secondhand copies on Abebooks, both at more than the SRS price.
