Hi everyone, I'm new to this site - so I'm not too sure about what to do.
Anyway, a friend & I are trying to discover the names of the heads of household in the City of Hereford in 1757. We have quite a bit of information already - but are in need of more.
If anyone has an ancestor who lived in the City of Hereford in 1757, I would love to hear from them - and hopefully we can help each other.
Why 1757? A map of the City of Hereford was published in 1757. Written onto the map was information about the number of houses & the number of inhabitants for each street in the city. So we know that we are looking for 1,279 heads of households.
Can you help us? Can we help you?

Welcome to RootsChat JD ... I hope we can be of use to you ... you'll find us a fanatical lot, but very kind and helpful ... and fun too !
I go into Hereford about once a fortnight, so if you wanted pictures of Hereford, for e.g., I can take some for you ... have you said where you are ?

Thanks for the reply Lydart.
I live in the city of Hereford. I'm sometimes to be found in the Hereford Record Office - the City Library - and the Cathedral Library. Do you sometimes visit any of those research centres? Do you have any City of Hereford ancestors?

Ahhh ... then you don't need me to take photos for you !
I live in Monmouth ... and no, I don't have any connections with Hereford, except that I was one of the diggers on the site before they built the Treasury for the Mappa Mundi ...
I very occasionally have used the Cathedral Library and was in the City Library on Friday !!
Can I suggest if you want to find more info about Hereford ancestors, you repost your question on the county board for Herefordshire, where more people who have Hfd interests will see it ?
Good luck !
