I am trying to find a record of a Death for James Mackie.
I have been helped by some very nice rootschats people and I am now trying to get some info regarding James Mackie.
James was listed in the 1876 Census a son of Robert Mackie and Ann Mackie age 8 and he was not listed in the 1881 Census. I can only think that he may have died. If there is any way of finding out it would be very much appreciated. Ann the Mother was a daughter of James kettles and Ann Young. Hope someone may be able to help. Regards Annette.

Hello Monica,
Thank you for that info. It sounds as though it could be the James. Thanks for your help it is very much appreciated.
In reading through all the different Census info I am now realising that some of the members of the family are not in and some.
Maybe you can help. I have in the 1901 census Robert Mackie age 63 b Dundee Daughter Christina age 29 b Dundee living in Dundee and there is no mention if Robert is widowed or not, or of his wife Ann.
Regards Annette

The index doesn't show marital status unfortunately, you'd have to look at the original on SP. There is however a death showing in 1895 for an Ann MacKie/Kett* in Angus which might be Ann's?

Hi Monica, It could be Ann's death as her maiden surname was Kettle / Kettles. I would assume that the * after Kett would mean something but I am not sure what.
Thank you so much for all this help. It is great to get some more missing links. Regards Annette.

Sorry Annette - the '*' means I put in a wildcard symbol on SP to pick up on any spelling variants of the surname.
