No Idea1 He was lodging with the henning family on the IOW in 1881 (listed as jane HEMING - head/widow) - and I wondered how he fitted in as I am trying to find a link between the Henning family on the IOW and a particular Henning family in Dorset - Verwood/Cranborne area.

Well - I've looked too, and I can't see him before 1871 with that profile.  Nor can I find a birth reg. that looks promising either  Huh   Sad

I've been looking at this for a while but can't find anything - no births either. I thought it might be a wrongly written  but I can't think of what it can be  Undecided

Could it be Hammond - I've found a mouthful of first names in the births:

George William Alfred Melhurst Hammond, Mar Q, 1861, Dorchester, vol 5a page 348
