Will be unable to get any information on George Thompson Reay as Chirton is in Northumberland, Sunderland library does not hold  records for Northumberland, similar position with Eleanor Cox as record stated she was born in Ferryhill, Co. Durham again library has no records for this area.
Tyne & Wear Archives in Newcastle or Woodhorn in Northumberland will hold records for Northumberland and for Ferryhill it would be Durham Records Office. These will charge a search fee.

Why not try Northumberland message board for George.

Were Thomas & Ann Dixon married in Sunderland and do you know round about when?

Will check for the baptism of Thomas Reay on Monday

Glad to be of help

Hi Ryhopelad,

I'll try dropping a message on the Northumberland board, see what comes up Smiley

Thomas and Ann were married in the early 1860's. There first child I'm sure was called Robert born c1862/3

Cheers,

Hi again Ryhopelad, forgot to mention something which is interesting. George Robert Dixon Reay's death in 1886, aged 19, was a shipwright aprentice I think. He did in an incident at Doxford's, but I don't know how. Would you be able to look that up for me please Monday? Forgive me it's just Im very ken to find out what happened to george Cry

Hello Matt

George Robert Dixon Reay was one of those I mentioned in an earlier message I have him on my database at home and have the information concerning the accident. As yet I do not have his burial details but will forward it later.

Will attach the information I have, let me know if it arrives OK.

Do you have a photo of George, I am considering putting my research in book form as there is no information of the men and boys who lost their lives in the shipyards.

Unable to attach info can you send your email address

Best wishes

Derek
