If you are starting out on your family history, there are lots of good books and websites which can help.

We help each other by looking for specific individuals which we cannot find in the various indexes available, so need information about an ancestor you are looking for.

Have you got the birth, marriage and death certificates of your parents and grandparents, so that you know how everyone was related?  That is generally the first step and the sites shown will show you how to do it.
