1901 census - very confused

can anyone out there help - i have my grandmother doris turner born 13-10-1898 on  the 1901 census at 325 hempshaw lane, stockport with her family. i have recently joined genesreunited and i input her details and they have come back with doris turner age 3 address is 14 alpine road and 37 new zealand road stockport doris turner age 3 dau to head - hannah turner age 0 dau to head - ? turner age 27 wife and william turner age  26 head american british subject.
why 2 addresses?? i have not come accross another doris turner born in this year previously - help me sort this muddle if you can

Hi Belinda,

The address on the census is indeed called "14 alpine road and 37 new zealand road stockport" - probably a corner house.

There are several Doris Turners in Stockport. If yours was born in Oct 1898 then she wouldn't be age 3 yet ... What are the details from the birth cert?  Smiley

Oh wait - don't need the info. Your family is Doris age 2 with parents George and Emma, still at Hempshaw Lane. Don't forget the census don't give birth years but ages at last birthday  Smiley

  The one at Hempshaw rd is age 2  father George mother Emma.

 Two different families.

There are 3 Doris Turners in Stockport on 1901 Census

1. b 1897 d of James & Elizabeth

2. b 1898 d of William & Susahannah

3, b 1899 d of  George R & Emma

   The two addresses for one house could mean it was on a corner.

  My great nan had a house with two front doors, one in each road that was the corner house of a terrace. Some mail was addressed to one door the rest to the other.
