Front page frozen in time
« on: Tuesday 06 May 08 01:25 BST (UK) »

Hi

Whenever I visit the home page now, it is the same as when I last manually signed in (which I did because it was doing the same thing).  If I refresh everything is fine until I go back to the home page again.

Any ideas of how to unfreeze it (apart from manually signing in each time)?

Cheers

It sounds like a browser cache problem.

The objects that form your home page are sitting in a folder called Temporary Internet Files (if you use Internet Explorer).  Those objects (icons, images and text) are knitted together to display your home page.

If you delete them by selecting  Tools >> Delete Browser History

then in theory the next time you visit your home page then new objects and files will have to be downloaded to the Temporary Internet Files folder and you will see the latest version.

In theory your browser should automatically detect new versions of objects and files and download them accordingly.  You may want to check your settings in:-

Tools >> Internet Options >> General tab.

Click on the settings button in the Browsing History section.

Then make appropriate adjustments in the section:

Check for newer versions of stored pages

Make sure Automatic is checked.

Thank you, Downside, that seems to have worked.  Though the settings you suggested were already selected.  But whatever it was you've unstuck it - thanks.

Now to remember all those passwords and usernames  Grin
