One of my stumbling blocks with my Chambers family is an early marriage, John Chambers to Ann unknown.
The census doesn't really help much either.
1841 shows the following;
John Chambers 35 Ann Chambers 30 William Chambers 15 Eliza Chambers 7 Joseph Chambers 5 Louisa Chambers 3
Residence is St Swithins, all are recorded as born in county.
1851 is a bit more complicated.
John and some of the children, at the workhouse where John was working, children are recorded as visitors. The age jumps up a lot but this is the correct family group, John recorded as born Tattershall (transcribed as Tattenshall) all children are born Lincoln.
George Chambers 9 Henry Chambers 19 John Chambers 63 Louisa Chambers 11
Ann and remaining children, Ann gives pob as Wragby, again children are all Lincoln. Residence is St Martin.
Ann Chambers 50 Charlotte Chambers 3 Eliza Chambers 17 Joseph Chambers 14 William Chambers 28
1861, Ann now recorded as widow, ages are those transcribed from Ancestry index and don't match the image. Residence is St Michael.
Ann Chambers 43 (image looks like 63) Charlotte Chambers 11 George Chambers 19 Luisa Chambers 23 William Chambers 38 (now recorded as born Minting)
None of the post 1837 kids were registered so birth certs aren't an option for finding maiden name for Ann.
Any suggestions as to where they may have married? Wragby? Tattershall? Minting? Lincoln?

Hi
I was also thinking the Minting POB for WIlliam seemed significant. As well as in 1861 - William was also recorded as born Minting in 1851, and then later in 1871 (where it's spelled as Minton)
There seemed to be a Henry born in abt 1832 (between WIlliam and Eliza) according to the age of the son Henry in the 1851 Census? But that still left that 'telling' gap between William and Henry. Wonder where was Henry in 1841.....................?
Cheers AMBLY
