The details on the cert are:
Harry Paget age 35 Engine Room something? came from
Portsea father name was Edmund William Paget.
Winifred Jones age 26 was a nurse came from Fleet,
father was Edward Sidney Jones.
Witness Elsie Jones
William ? cannot make out the name.

Thought I might as well add that....
just so that we know.

We are mainly looking for Minnie Hughes in 1891 at the minute, Rabbit. No one can find her. She should be 11 years old. They seem to stick around the London area.

Hi Paula,

I remember now, I have looked for her without success, spent ages on it you know!

Could she have been away at the time of the census?
In Wales or somewhere else?

PS A date for the pagets might help!

Harry Patchitt born 4/11/1673 Chelsea
Baptised Eton abt. 1875 as Harry Paget
1881 in Eton with aunt, who is really his mother...? don't ask why we don't know.
Forgotten where he was in 1891 Holly knows  I don't remember.
1901 he is in Lambeth with Minnie and their baby Harry jnr, who was born in 1900 at the home of Harry's mum in Eton, while Harry was still in London ? don't ask why again.

and to confuse matters all the more we have just discovered Lily Winifred Paget who was born too Henry and Mary Paget formerly Hughes, in Holborn in 1899.

In spite of the slight name changes, we think this is ours, because one of the family remembered their father said there had been a Lily.

But we can't find a marriage.

Bingo!
We have found Minnie Hughes....

The clue with Lily Winifred was a good one.
Not certain because of the slight name changes, Holly sent for the little darling's death cert....she was only 4 months old. She died in Kings Stable Street, Eton, where so much of the early family history takes place.
The mother's name was still down as Mary....so...
The Hunt started for Mary Hughes of Westminster....and there she was, born 29th Dec, 1877, a day earlier than was expected, but everything else was right.
Father Thomas and mother Bridget, both from Ireland, as family legend claimed.

So case closed...at last.
Whew!

Oh we're steaming ahead now...have her on all the census, her parents marriage and her mothers death references...

Funny, isn't it, how one person cloggs the works, and when you get past them it starts to flow again...but seeing that it's flowing into Ireland I think it might get difficult again.  Huh

Hi Paula,

Unclogging the Irish bit is always difficult because so many record are missing, but as you are on a roll at last good luck with that!

Keep us posted please!

I am thrilled to bits that with everyones input I have at long last found my Grandmother
Mary Hughes, why on earth she ever called herself Minnie we will never know.
Another brick in the wall knocked down  all down to little Lily Winifred who died aged
4months old, I just find it amazing,
A big thank you again for everyone who helped.
