Hi b

Where are you seeing this message?  Is it a pop-up?

Rootschat doesn't allow pop-ups, so if it is - DON'T USE IT!!

You might have picked up something nasty - but not from this site.

Any advertising that appears at the top or bottom of the Rootschat site is provided by Google and you should exercise the usual caution, together with firewalls and anti-virus software before opening anything you are unsure about.

Kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

It was right there on top of the board as I was reading your post Arran - so don't think it's a pop-up ?

Yes I've just seen it at the bottom.

Personally I would stick to something you have heard of & not risk anything without some assurance that it is sound.

Trystan will have a better idea about the Google adverts, but play it safe meanwhile!

Edit: I have sent him a message to ask!

Google does have an advertising policy:
http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=52

Naturally the only way RootsChat can survive is by people visiting the adverts that are of interest to them.

Google are very well respected amongst publishers (ie. websites like RootsChat who show the ads) and the advertisers, and the whole Google brand depends on the trust of the users.

Over time people's Windows PCs can get clogged up and bogged down with fragments of files, or unused  or broken programs. Some of these programs can be very effective, and allow your machine to regain some speed and reclaim some disk space too.

Sure, feel free to visit advertisers that you see on the RootsChat adverts, but do heed the caution of others before you download or install anything on your computer. One way to do that is to ask questions like you have done, and to search the name of the program on the internet to see if it is recommended by any other reputable sites.
