Tagg family from Lambley
« on: Tuesday 06 May 08 17:24 BST (UK) »

Do you have Tagg's in your tree?

The 1841 census shows the following family:
Address Thick Knock Lambley, Notts
Tag William 27 ag lab y
                Mary 29 y
                John 5 y
                Thomas 3 y
                Charlotte 1 y

William is my 3G Grandfather & Thomas my 2G. Any help with their baptisms would be great.
What is Thick Knock?!!
IGI shows a marriage in 1834 at Holme Pierrepont between William Tagg &  Mary Fletcher. Anything to help prove this is the correct marriage would be appreciated.

Hi Maggie,
1851 has Mary born Clifton- have not checked other censuses.
Clifton is 8 miles from Holme Pierrepont according to google map.

IGi has a Mary Fletcher christened 1813 Clifton with Gapton - parents William and Sarah.

IGI also shows a William and John Fletcher born to these- they are together on 1861.

There are a couple of William Taggs christened same year both Southwell. (IGI)Only 1861 shows 2 and the other one is unmarried.

It's not reliable but it all points to the right marriage.

best wishes
