Hi All,
I'm trying to trace the birth (and parents) of my 3G grandmother Mary Ann Clark. She was born in Egham around 1810 and later married John Greenfield Humphrey.
Does anyone have access to Egham Parish Registers?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I found this on IGI as well. It certainly could be, but the census returns consistently suggest 1810 rather than 1804 as birth date.

Yes - I'm still looking!
I'm afraid that I don't know if she was married in Egham. She married a John Greenfield Humphrey, but I don't have a date (can't find marriage on IGI), although their first child was born (in Clerkenwell, London) in 1836, so I would guess 1830-1835. A James Clark (born in Surrey) is living with the family (Mary is widowed and Head of family) in 1861 and listed as an Uncle, so presumably is Mary's brother. He is listed as age 47 so would have been born around 1814.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I checked the baptism records in Egham from 1808 - 1814 and I couldn't find a record for Mary Ann Clark.
I didn't have time to check out the brother's birth -I will look next time I go if you want.
Could you give me the details of the 1861 entry and I will see if I can see James Clark on the 1851 just in case his birthplace is in greater detail.

Hi Tricia,
Thanks for looking. Perhaps she is the Mary Clark born in 1804. I know that you need to treat ages in the census with care, but it seems odd that she consistently gives an age that suggests 1810. A difference of 6 years seems strange. I've got access to Ancestry so I'll see if I can trace James in 1851 and let you know.

I'm afraid I can't find James in 1851. The reference for Mary in 1861 is:
RG 9/191 - Page 58 - Parish of Clerkenwell - Ward 5 - Borough of Finsbury - London - Ecclesiastical District of St. John
Her husband John G Humphrey is living at another address (don't know why) :
RG 9/191 - Page 88 - Parish of Clerkenwell - Ward 4 - Borough of Finsbury - London - Ecclesiastical District of St. James
