Could someone please help me with my puzzle concerning my 3xGt Grandmother, Ann please?
She married David Coultas b. 21 Oct 1823 and she appear with him on the 1851, 1861, 1871 censuses. There are many Ancestry trees that she features in and they all have her listed as Ann Astin.
I can only find her before her marriage in the Ancestry BMD as Ann Austing when she married David Coultas in 1846. Austing does not feature as a surname for anyone else on the Ancestry database, so maybe mistranscribed. These other trees have a birth date for her of 12 Jan 1824, so I assume that they have found her official details, but there are so many wrong details on Ancestry I would like to cross check but can't find a starting point.
No one seems to have any information about the Astins further back from Ann, but it appears that she was born in Halifax.
I only have access to Ancestry.co.uk and would really apreciate it if someone could check out her details from another source please? kind regards, Jill

There is an Ann Asting on the 1841 census for Halifax
Thomas Asting 45 Ann Asting 15 Betty Asting 15 Edwin Asting 13 Emma Asting 13 Thomas Asting 7
However - Thomas aged 45 is shown at the end of the entry on the image - not as you would expect if he was the children's father - although they are all at the same address

Extracted IGI record
EMMA ASTIN Christening: 24 FEB 1828 Halifax Father: THOS. ASTIN Mother: SARAH
EDWIN ASTIN Christening: 24 FEB 1828 Halifax Father: THOS. ASTIN Mother: SARAH

Sorry my bad grammar, a delver works in a quarry - Thomas's trade, mother should apply to Sarah.
http://www2.halifaxtoday.co.uk/calderheritage/calderhome.htm
gives some interesting information about quarrying and mining in the area.
I find that if I'm unsure, I order certs one at a time and from the local registry office rather than GRO.
