Taylor/Stuart family

For years i have known that i have Romany Gypsy heritage from my Dad's side of the family,   My Grandads name was Gordon (JACK) STUART & he lived in Deptford, SE London for most part of his life,  My Grandma was Mary ann Elizabeth Stuart (NEE,TAYLOR),
My G-Grandparents on my Grandad Stuarts side i know nothing about, But my Grandmother, (Mary Stuart) parents were William george TAYLOR & Mary Ann Taylor (NEE HUDSON) & resided in the Deptford area were they died in January & August of 1983.
Appparently my G-Grandfather was born in Bradford but i dont no if it is true,??
I was also told that there was a name change within the TAYLOR family but im not sure of what the name was but it was not an english name and i do not no why it was changed , i was told because they didnt know how to spell it so it was changed,?HuhHuh
They also used to go Hop Picking in Yalding, Kent in the 1960's/70's,
There is not much more i know, i am at a stand still as to what to do next,
is there anybody out there that may be able to help me research further?Huh?

Mary Ann TAYLOR (née HUDSON) was born in April 1906 according to her death registration (Sep Q 1983, Lewisham 14 0554).

This is the corresponding birth entry which will give you her parent's names if you buy the cert:

Births Jun 1906  
HUDSON    Mary Ann        
Greenwich 1d 1040

William George TAYLOR's birth is a little harder to pin down, as there are several possiblilities - his death record states that he was born 28 Jun 1902.  If you get his marriage cert it will at least give you his father's name - this one looks possible, although he has no middle intial:

HUDSON    Mary A       (spouse TAYLOR)   
TAYLOR    William    (spouse HUDSON)
Greenwich 1d 1214
