My maternal g grandparents GEORGE and ELIZABETH HYDES and their family emigrated to New Zealand in 1877. I am trying to get confirmation that their parents were JOHN HYDES b 1822 who married SABINA JOLLANDS . The 1851 census records list the children of this couple as: Ellen age 8 Henry age6 George age4 Frederick age 3 Elizabeth age 7 mo Therefore from age records the child George possibly correlates with my forbear - born 1847. Any further info or links to these families would be greatly appreciated f ;)rom NZ. Cheers Milt.

Hi Geoff and Tati Many thanks for the marriage and birth indices giving me sufficient confidence to now chase up appropriate certificates. From 12000 miles away in New Zealand I like to be fairly certain I am on the right track before ordering. Again in appreciation, Milt.

Hi. As Jolland is such an uncommon name I thought I would tell you that I have an Anthony Jolland, age 79, born Keadby, Lincs on 1881 census as a lodger with our great grandfather Levi Dawson in Castlegate, Grantham. I don't know if this is of any interest to you but he could be somewhere on your tree.

Hi Ozdot, I agree Jollands is an unusual name so your find of Anthony Jollands ,especially with his birthplace listed in Lincolnshire, could be of significance to me. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.I will pursue it further

To Jacky and An65 My grateful thanks from afar for the info given. Jacky-I have not yet had time to explore your Jollands database but hopefully my knowledge will be extended after I do so. An65 -its great to have specific dates,towns/villages and churches and the Hydes/Anne Faulkinder marriage now gets me to my maternal ggg grandparent stage of my tree.
It leaves me very humble that people like you so willingly share info that has possibly taken much time and perhaps cost to get initially. Again thanks
Milt.

Sharing is all part of the fun
Regarding Ann Falkinder - her father was John Falkender and her mother Elizabeth Evison and they were married 17.05.1781 Candlesby.
Ann had a sister Mary, c.06.01.1800 Welton Le Marsh, and Ann herself was baptised 22.03.1795 at Welton Le Marsh. To date, this is about all the information I have managed to find on the Falkinder/Falkender family.
Ann was buried at St Nicholas Addlethorpe 10.01.1878 - there is no gravestone for either her or John Hydes.
So, onto the Hides/Hydes family! (for similicity I shall only use one variation)
Did you know, that in Addlethorpe, there is a Hides's Lane? oh yes, and whats more its almost certainly named after this family as they all seemed to live in the vicinity of this one country lane....
Well the farthest back I have managed to go is Robert Hides who married Esther Scott 15.05.1750 at Mavis Enderby. I believe they are the parents of John Hides b.1756 West Keal.
This John Hides was buried at Addlethorpe 01.04.1819 and he married Martha Brocklesby (b.cira 1762) and buried 10.06.1848 Addlethorpe. Their marriage took place in 1790 at Skendleby.
John and Martha had the following children:
John Hides c.16.01.1791 Hagnaby, married Ann Falkinder 14.05.1816 Thorpe St Peter. He was buried at Addlethorpe 03.07.1872. Elizabeth Hides c.16.12.1792 Hagnaby married James Johnson 21.06.1816 at Addlethorpe William Hides c.17.05.1795 Hagnaby married Elizabeth Atkinson in 1820 at Thorpe St Peter Thomas Hides b.1798 East Kirkby, who married Mary Shaw, in 1824 at THorpe St Peter Robert Hides b.1801 Great Steeping, who Married Betsey Sleight 11.08.1823 at Wrangle. Edward Hides b.1803 Great Steeping Joseph Hides c.12.06.1808 Addlethorpe d.12.11.1886 Addlethorpe, married Ann Davidson 14.10.1828 at St Marys, Winthorpe.
John Hides and Ann Falkinder had:
Robert Hides c.03.08.1817 Ingoldmells, d.30.03.1852 Skegness buried Addlethorpe He married Mary Mills and after his death she married a Mr Dowse. She is died 11.10.1905 This pair have a gravestone.
Mary Ann Hides apparently a few years old by baptism, c.27.10.1826 Addlthorpe and died young.
Faulkinder Hides c.19.03.1820 Addlethorpe d.19.05.1894 Hundleby Workhouse. buried at Addlethorpe 22.05.1894. Married Eliza Merrill b.4.4.1823 Winthorpe d.21.05.1888 Addlethorpe they were married 27.05.1845 at Addlethorpe and are my 2xgt Grandparents.
John Hides c.03.04.1822 Addlethorpe married Sabina Jollands George Hides c.04.08.1824 Addlethorpe William Hides c.20.09.1829 Addlethorpe d.1904 Addlethorpe Mary Ann Hides c.25.09.1831 Addlethorpe married Mason Keal 1866 Spilsby. Jane Hides c.09.06.1833 Addlethorpe Elizabeth c.23.08.1835 Addlethorpe
