Hi there... I'm wondering what kind of records are out there for the following?

I have a John Watson born c.1784 in Broading N.Hampton England. He joined the Royal West India Rangers on April 24, 1813. He married a Helen [Ellen] Brown c.1819 as their first son Robert Patrick shows to have been born 1820.

The regiment disbanded in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in June 1819. He was given some land and remained in the area until his death in 1871.

I would like to find out who John and Helen's parents were and where they would have married. Any ideas on how to proceed from here??

There is no such place in Northamptonshire I am afraid as Broading.

Have you any other information that may help us.

I wonder if it is Bradden - but there were no Watsons baptised in the parish church.

Hi all,

thanks so much for all the prompt replies.

I went back over my information for John Watson's birthplace and noticed the following in brackets "Fellingham, Lincolnsh, Eng" next to Broading, N Hampton, Eng.

Does this help any? or should I be posting in a different area for this?

Hi Sandy,

yes, this is definitely the same John Watson and Helen Brown although the information is missing my great, great grandmother Elizabeth [daughter to John & Helen]. Wish it was working backwards though but should be fun to go through and compare information.
