I found this site by accident an hour ago and saw someone posting a request for Biggin, Durham. Now I have registered I can't find it. Please pass this on.
Most people were way out talking about Newbiggin. There is a Biggin / Biggen between Quebec and Malton (on the R. Browney). Biggin Terrace is on Hamsteels Lane & Biggen Farms (2) are lower down close to the old Malton pit. Access from the 5 way junction at the bottom of Esh bank.

Hi Andrea I presume the lady you are referring to is Jane Coates nee Crozier. She was my great, great, great, grandmother. I haven't been able to figure out the Biggin conundrum, I suppose the only way is to find a baptism record, but I haven't managed yet. Did you know that she died on 1st Oct 1870 in Queen St, North Bailey, Durham City . This appears to be a Cathedral Almshouse.
