Thank you Adam
Whilst I expect that most of my Langstaff/Longstaff are buried at St Andrews, your data is helping me sort the various pedigrees.
My group appear to be mainly butchers and innkeepers.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Adam,
Thank you for the Charlton, Cummin, etc inscriptions. I would also be interested in Bell, if you would be so kind.

Hello Peggy. Here they are:-

In memory of Sarah Atkinson late of West Auckland who died March/16/1830 age 30 years.
Also Thomas Atkinson husband of the above died January/25/1855 age 79 years.
Also Robert Bell of West Auckland who died September/15/1877 aged 55 years (long verse followed by)
Also Lancelot son of the above named Robert and Frances Bell who died August/29/1852 age 4 years.

In memory of Elizabeth Ann the beloved daughter of Metcalfe and Ann Bell of Gordon, who died march/20/1868 age 15 years.

I think "Gordon" may be between Toft Hill and the Slack.
I know there was a Gordon pit around that area.

Hello Adamand
I was hoping those Atkinsons would be mine....alas not. Your original list includes an Atkinson with Banks, could you post further details on that name please?

Hello Amanda.
Here is the other inscription that you requested.

Erected to the memory of Sarah Banks late of West Auckland who died January/4/1845 aged 84 years.
Also of John Atkinson late of West Auckland who died December/23/1857 aged 48 years.
Also Elizabeth his wife who died December/22/1857 age 50 years.

They died within a day of each other. I have checked the dates and they are correct.

Thankyou for that info Adamand,

My 3xGt Grandmother's brother was called John Atkinson but he was born in 1799 in Hamsterley. I looked up the John and Elizabeth from the gravestone in the IGI and the 1851 census; unfortunately the gravestone year of birth is correct and this John was born in South Shields. Sad

Nonetheless many thanks for your efforts  Smiley

Thanks for that - have Thomas and Jane in my tree, but had no record of these two children so that is great.

I don't know where I saw Young and Wright - but I noticed a message and thought I should reply to that and then didn't as was in a rush. Thought it was Auckland but might not have been........ It wasn't yours then? Tis a Mystery....

Thanks again  Cheesy

Hello Gilbert. Yes there are two. If you go to the first posting you will see that I have given a list of surnames.
Here are yours :-

Sacred to the memory of Jane Matthews, wife of Thomas Mathews of West Auckland and only daughter of George and Rachel Wade of the same place, who with Christian fortitude and resignation departed this life May/6/1822 age 37 years.

In memory of Thomas Matthews late of Heighington who died on the 30/January/1864 aged 84 years.
