« on: Friday 09 May 08 11:10 BST (UK) »

i am trying to find connections to my g grandfather, Robert Henderson Fawcett. The info i have of him is limited, i have a possible birth for him for 1818 Durham. I have been told by a distant rellie that he married an Ann Blagburn fo Alnwick Northumberland. I know Robert had a son, John Fawcett b.May 1848 Castle Eden, Durham. My family tree stops dead at Robert Henderson Fawcett, i dont have a clue as to who his parents were...which would be nice.

appreciate any help..

  on same page ....

Henderson Fawcett
Ann Blagburn

  1838......Sunderland reg district  Q2   vol 24 page 256.

The cert could be ordered as it would give his fathers name.

from durhamrecordsonline:
Baptism  Houghton-le-Spring   St. Michael & All Angels
25 Jul 1821 Robert Henderson Fawcett, of Philadelphia, son of Robert Fawcett & Jane

the only additional information from the BTs is that Robert was a Pitman

hope this helps,

Thank you so very much Tazzie and Barbara, how very kind of you both to help me so quickly.

No the wonder i couldnt find his marriage, him marrying as Henderson Fawcet. Thank you Barbara for the baptism record of Robert H Fawcett, what a wonderful help as it gives me a clue to his parents a Robert and Jane.

I also notice on the 1861 census Ann gives her name as Hannah and on the 1851 census she is as Ann. Now i have a start to move forward again with Robert and his family.

thank you both so very much.

Glad to help.  There don't seem to be any more children baptised in Houghton le Spring, I found a burial for a Jane Fawcett 6th April 1835, an infant.  I can't see a marriage for Robert and Jane there, of course they could have married in Northumberland or Durham

Thomas birth registration: Jun 1839 Gateshead 24 110    Fawcett    Thomas
so assume Robert H Fawcett/Ann's marriage was before that date, but can't as yet see them in 1841 census

There is a Robert b. 1821 on 1841 census with a Jane (not an Ann or Hannah), if the right Robert, Jane could be a first wife or sister as relationships not given in 1841, but couldn't see his parents Robert/Jane or son Thomas

HO107/296/16 fol.5 p.5
King William Street, Gateshead, Durham
Robert Fawcett 20 Engineman
Jane         "       20
both born county Durham

Hi Barbara, it was wonderful to see more help from you regarding this Robert Henderson Fawcett. Like you i cant find Robert and Jane on the 1841 census also, mind you, i had'nt found anything to do with robert H Fawcett unlike you!
I was interested to see there was a Robert/Jane, however, that is another puzzle adding to the robert and Ann and Hannah...wish the 1841 census would be a help to us!
Thank you for the  birth reg of Thomas much appreciated.
I wonder if the Henderson part of Roberts name could be Jane's maiden name, presumimg Robert and Jane are his parents, also Robert H Fawcetts birth district is Houghton-le-spring...could i find a marriage in that area for his parents..ummmm

thank you Barbara for your help i really appreciate it.

Regard

I also notice on the 1861 census Ann gives her name as Hannah and on the 1851 census she is as Ann.

I think this will be the same person, Ann just another version of Hannah, I've seen this a few times before

I had the same thoughts, but couldn't find a marriage either, sorry

Kind regards, Barbara  Smiley
