has anyone got a livebox? i have just installed one, so far so good!! one thing puzzles me? they say you can surf anywhere around the home--bedroom, living room etc, etc, but how can that be? when you have to plug the connection in to the filter on the phone line? and a wire has to go from the livebox into the back of the PC? i have installed it as a wired connection and i have had to move my PC nearer to the phone socket. any help please!!!! Chris.

If you get an adaptor (or 'dongle' as they're sometimes called) you can then unplug your computer from the livebox connection, fit the adaptor (into a usb port) and move your computer to wherever you want.
My laptop is connected by wire to my modem, as it hasn't got a network card, or centrino, being a bit on the old side. The other computers have got (a) centrino and (b) and adaptor/dongle and they connect to the web ok. If I disconnect my laptop and use the adaptor from the pc I can then take it anywhere in the house and get on the internet. The actual livebox/netgear/linksys or whatever you have does not need to be actually connected to anything. It sends a signal that is picked up by the adaptor/dongle that is in a pc/laptop.

thanks for your help, i have been looking at the livebox instructions on the web, and have looked at my network connections like it said, it looks like i don't have a net work card, maybe one day i will get a wireless adaptor, at the moment i am happy with what i have, at least i don't have a long wire trailing like i had with the modem!! no not confusing at all, i am learning all the time!
