 I cant find her birth record anywhere, her name was Joan Cooke she was born 27 July 1929 along with her twin sister Dorothy in Manchester... I think in Gorton or Openshaw (sorry I live in NZ so they could be the same place), infact I cant find her brothers Alfred born 1926 and Charles born 1936  it is like they were all found in a cabbage patch. Their parents names were Charles and Lydia Cooke. I have looked high and low but think I must be missing something, can anyone out there please tell me where they are ? many thanks in advance...sue

Which indexes have you searched?
Freebmd won't have transcribed it, and so you would have to look at ORIGINAL gro pages.
That goes for 'ancestry' too

Lancs bmd won't be complete and unles you searched ORIGINAL IMAGES (page by page) then the births won't be there.

I dont think that the Free BMD have transcribed as far as 1929 yet
According to thier birth coverage charts, they only have a tiny amount transcribed for 1929.

 found them, thanks so much for your help. I didnt know there were any other records on ancestry then the ones that come up when you do a search, is it only the newer records that havent been put on the search engine yet? or are they still missing marriage records from manchester

oh wow this has opened up a whole lot of records I didnt know about, I have been trying for years and not getting anywhere to find a marriage that must of taken place as they had about 10 kids all baptised but I have never been able to find a record of their marriage, I put it down to the fact that maybe the girl had been married before and had a differant name, but maybe the records have just not been transcribed yet
