Help please with Charlotte's surname. Have looked at it every which way and still can't work it out.

It looks like Claid but not sure - hope a  clever Rootschatter can see what it is........

How about Claiden? It's a name, I'd never heard of it but Google turns up plenty!

There is a Charlotte Claiden in the 1881 census in Clapham...she was born abt 1826.

Said to re-name original as one already with that name but now I seem to have an excess of entries. Guess I'll be forgiven !

Thank you - I shall look for Claiden  again - don't think I found any on Free BMD.

It is quite an unusual surname - thanks for your help......

Have found her death - 1908. Seems she remained a spinster. Will try and find connection to family.

Where fools rush in....... have found the marriage of Charlotte Child to William Claiden - Dec 1855.
