Maybe you could try to find them in 1851 to see if they give more detail about place of birth. Janet may have married by then of course.

Then check through the appropriate parish records to see if you can find their births:

A remote possiblity - extracted record from the IGI:

Samuel Pescod
chr 10 May 1795
All Saints
Newcastle Upon Tyne
Northumberland
father William
mother Elizabeth

Siblings also chr All Saints with same parents:
Marianne 3 Apr 1791
George chr 10 Oct 1797
William chr 28 Apr 1793

The parents marriage:
William Pescod = Elizabeth Vinton, 7 Dec 1783, St Andrew, Newcastle Upon Tyne

I can't see Janet or Thirton on the IGI. If these Pescods are of any interest, the Parish Records on the site above may give more detail than the IGI.

Good luck.

Oh no there isn't Grin

It does not say Janet and Thirston. The person who is supposed to be Janet is actually a male (Brick Maker) and the other name is the female.

There are several instances on the page of a capital letter “J” and this is definitely not one of them. It is an “L”.

From FreeBMD in 1838 we find a possible marriage of LANCELOT PESCOD and THIRZA DOUGLAS in Gateshead.

I think that is who it is Roll Eyes

DS Wink

ps Thirza died in 1846 so she does not appear in 1851.

Here is Lancelot with a new wife (Mary Brown).....

1851

Weardale HO107/2388 Folio 350 Page 4

Lancelot Pescod Head M 33 Brick Manufacturer* Durham Dunston
Mary do Wife M 27 Durham Sunderland
Thomasine do Daur 8 Scholar Durham Derwenthaugh
John do Son 6 Durham Conside

Front Street, Wolsingham

*Employing 15 men and 5 boys.

From his age and birthplace and, indeed, the names of his children, I would think that he is the son of John Pescod and Thomasine Bell.

This enumerator frequently used superscript, and I think the first name actually read Lancet  i.e. as DS says, definitely Lancelot.
