Hi Sue

So in answer to your original query the only Baptism for a William Mumford was in Kings Sutton.

There were no more Baptisms in Newbottle after 1778 to 1820 for Mumford.

No Baptisms either from 1718 to 1764 that I could find in Newbottle although some
pages were totally un-readable in both parishes.

These following Burials were at Newbottle

William Mumford Octo 01 1764 Affiadavitt Received Octo 01

Mary Mumford July 24 1780 Affiadavitt Received July 28

Hester wife of John Janr 2nd 1795

Thos son of Richard and Elizth Oct 12th 1800

Hi Sue

Adding this 1841 entry here to complement Sandy's work ...

1841 Census Kings Sutton
H.O.107/804/11 Pg 11 Folio 26 Whittal Street

Thomas Mumford 70 Farmer Y
Thomas 40 Y
Ann 15 Y

Still working on linking Elizabeth MUMFORD = Thomas MOBLEY 13 Oct 1804 Kings Sutton (from my wife's lines) into all this MUMFORD data - daughter of Ishmael & Elizabeth (Replies #17 & #18) is certainly a possibility.

Hi,

The above is fascinating to me as my ancestor James Mumford, states in more than one census that he was born in Charlton parish of Newbottle in 1775. There is a large Mumford presence in Kings Sutton and I truly believe that as Charlton and Kings Sutton are so close (2 miles), there must be a connection.
Unfortunately I cannot find any parents for James Mumford, has anyone come across his records at all?

I know that he married in Whaddon (across the border in Bucks) and settled in Gt Horwood where our branch of the Mumfords grew and prospered for over a hundred years.

Any help would be massively appreciated.
Many thanks
James Mumford
