hello, well i have the information, and yes Douglas had 3 sisters born in
south shields   and 1 here in Montreal canada, so you guys have it
right, i'm so HAPPY she told me that Dorothy ( call DOLLY ) was born in cardiff wales, sooooooo it's the good familly you found for me 
Now about Joseph, he had a brother name WALTER
JOSEPH was a commander in the british army his ship was TORPEDOED
in the high seas. I dont know what year he died?
and now how do i look foe the rest of the familly on both side??

hello -I am so plesed we have found the correct family .
I can trace the Surtees family further back -and will post that information soon.
Joseph bailey -it is very difficult to find the correct Joseph bailey -as there are so many!!!
I looked in Military records -but there are still so many!!!
Do you have the age of Joseph when he went to canada??
I think you need to send for his marriage certificate -that will give the name and occupation of his father and so will help to trace him
You can order certificates online from the link below

this is a government site and is very safe to use.
certificates cost 7 British pounds -and they charge no extra postage to canada. They just take longer to arrive!

£7 = approx 12.75 canadian dollars

Well Joseph was born in 1893 and he left South Shield in 1929 ( on SMITH'S DOCKS) TO GO TO CANADA, THAT MAKE HIM 26 OF AGE.....
HE'S BROTHER TO WAS IN THE BRITHISH NAVY ..
THAT'S ALL I KNOW FOR NOW, DID YOU FIND SOMETHING ELES ON THE BAILEY'S???
SO HOW DO I START TO ORDER THE THIMG FOR JOSEPH??

There is this family in 1901 -but there are a few other possibilities for Joseph -although they are living in Durham -but not S Shields.
Marriage cert should show his father -and then we can make sure we are on the correct path.
1901- but this only a guess-it may be the wrong joseph

Well my husband try to order the certificate but it didn't work, we don"t know why And this weekend i was trild to have meet
JOSEPH daughter, well she's so beautiful , BUT, she told me that she didn't know her father that much, you see she saw him for about 10 year of her life, he was in the WAR, in London and in CANADA, and he was station in a boat and submarine, soooo!! he did stay in GERMANY for 2 year because he was wounded she did not see him a lot, she could not tell me if he had
brother or sisters, nothing because they did not talk about her father, not much to go on hin!!!!!!!
