Hi Tamar,
If you post the name and area you are looking for perhaps an eagle-eyed Rootschatter will be able to find them for you.

A William G Packman died in Surrey NW in the Dec 1/4 of 1952 age 72 .
Is it possible that the date you thought was 1957 is in fact 1952?
If so the ref is volume 5g page 794
He is also listed as George Packman with the same ref numbers, someone must have said his name was George at first, then realised that he was really William G
Any good? Or am I in the wrong part of the country?
Carol

Your best bet might be the local registry office then?
The GRO indexes are NOT infallible

Hi, Carol's right - apparently some got lost in transit from the local registrar's office and GRO (See Genuki - Civil Registration). Good luck. Paulene Also, they'll return your cheque if they don't find the right one - often NO search charge at local offices
