What do you think of this?
1841 HO 107; Piece 863; Book 2; Folio 4; Pg 3
Bradmore Nottinghamshire
Catherine Dalby 94 yrs independent born in county Easter Dalby 55 yrs independent born in county Eliaz Dalby 55 yrs independent born in county
(that's how they are written but ELiaz is transcribed as Eliza which I think it should be and that's how I found them from the 1851 census where 'Esther' is also Ester)

Thank you - that is certainly a possibility - Esther however was actually born in New York and is shown as that in both 1851 and 1861. Is there any trace of her in Derbyshire?

it's difficult to check Caroline because she doesn't come up as Esther Dalby on ancestry in 1851 or 1861 - as I said earlier she is Ester in 1851 so I can't look for other clues. I am assuming that Catherine was William's mother - do you have any confirmation of this?
