I have a OPR for the marriage of
William Ralston/Jean Moody 5th Aug 1731 Abbey Paisley Renfrewshire Scotland.
I also have a OPR marriage for there Daughter Katherine Ralston/Alexander Hart November 1763.
I was told by a source that William Ralston was a farmer from the Ralstons of Campbelltown Mull of Kintyre

How much traveling was done between Paisley and Mull of Kintyre,Would it have been easy traveling by Water?

Is there anyone doing any research with these Three families from Paisley. Hart.

I have Harts and also Ralston but not on same side of family.

The Highland clearances had a lot to do with folks moving 'down south' as it were. Not that hard a journey by water either from the Mull across.

What was their occuptaion? A lot of folks came from the Highlands in the late 1700s for the weaving industry.

The Ralstons that I am referring to came from Ayrshire.They were Farmers
The Harts back in the 1600's were Weavers and Carters.
I have traced them moving around a lot starting from Paisley, Govan, Barony, Rutherglen, Cambuslang They then became Miners around 1850's.
Finished up in Blantyre.My home town.
In Barony(Parkhead)for at least 150years they were Carters and had a street named Hart Street were  they lived and had there hauling and Carting business. This was just of Westmuir Street,one of the main drags leading of Parkhead Cross.
Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated

I have my harts back to mid 1600s in Paisley. I've still got to go sideways with them but Agnes Hart was my gtx8 Grandmother.

Might not be same family but if you pm me your email addy quite happy to send you a gedcom with what I have so far. I'm not 'doing' them just at mo - decided probably unwisely to look at Stewarts - or however it might be spelt - one of those! (my dad's elusive Lanarkshire lot for a while) but more than happy to look if you think might be a link via the gedcom.

The Harts were my mum's dad's maternal maternal (etc) side going way back. I always wondered why my gt gran's bro had Hart as a middle name and it got me curious - mainly cos he;d died in WW1 and at that time was looking for WW1 deaths. I was quite stunned to get back as far as I did. (These are Paisley records lol and not always that great!). He was a McGavin (really a McGovern but we'll not go there lol. Ah illiteracy and the ennumerator - bless them!)
