Where is YESICK, YORK??????

Anyone got ideas as to where abouts this place may be next to in York were one of my ancestors come from.  Unable to find it on a map anywhere.

Could someone had heard it wrong and might have meant Escrick which is 6 miles south of York Huh Huh Huh

How about Beswick (pronounced Bessick) which is on the A164 about half way between Driffield and Beverley.

I've just double checked the place name Yesick for curiosity .. and this is most certainly the birthplace. There are only three births, all in 1861 .. the first one is ..

Sarah Lave, living in Holbeck .. RG9/3361, Folio 136, Page 19



Followed by the second two .. RG9/3619, Folio 57, Page 13 .. Francis and Gerorge Burton, living in Scarborough

Might be totally wrong .. but the nearest I can find to the above Francis Burton in 1851 was born in Escrick and living in York .. HO107/2355, Folio 425, Page 45 ..

Correct occupation but the age isn't right .. three years older .. ?  Undecided
