Devon Online Parish Clerks - free assistance
« on: Tuesday 28 April 09 21:20 UTC (UK) »

Just to let everyone know that, with the cooperation of GenUKI/Devon there is a volunteer look-up resource known as Devon Online Parish Clerks which offers researchers free assistance in over 190 ancient Devonshire parishes. Simply go to http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/OPCproject.html to see if your parish of interest is covered.
Alternatively, if you would like to volunteer to adopt one of the remaining parishes, please follow directions on the website, or reply to me here.

Happy Hunting,

Most of Okehampton's registers are online via the IGI - what do you want to know?

Hi DOB7,

Perhaps you could help me with a family I am having trouble with.

I have traced them back to the early 1800s in Highweek, Newton Bushel, Newton Abbot area but cant find any of these on the list of parishes.

Could you please tell me what parish they would come under?

Many thanks

Highweek & Newton Bushell come under Highweek - see http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Highweek/index.html for details of what is available. Marriages are online via the IGI. Baptism booklets 1813-1839 are available from the Devon FHS.
Newton Abbot comes under Wolborough - see http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Wolborough/index.html

Thank you very much.

My line misses the IGI before 1803 so I'll folow up on the DOPC.

Thanks Again
