Freebdm has an Alice Coombes registered Dec Qtr 1869 Newington 1d 233. Do you definitely know she belongs to George, or is it her listing on the 1871 census that determines this? I wondered about the sister Mary Anne who appears aged 5 in 1861 - whether it might be her daughter?
There is a marriage Mar Qtr 1863 George Coombes Croyden 2a 193
I can't easily find him in 1871 - could he have emigrated?

Is this the Alice Coombes who married George Raggett in 1888? She consistently gives her birthplace as Hambledon. 1891 and 1901 censuses with husband George in Chiddingfold and Godalming and in 1871 with her grandparents William and Sarah Coombes in Chiddingfold. Her age is also consistent 1, 21, and 29 On the 1881 census William and Sarah are in Godalming. Lodging with them is Alice Mary Jelley aged 10 born Hambledon.
Births Sep 1869 JELLEY Alice Mary Hambledon 2a 119
She also seems to have had a father called George
ALICE MARY JELLY Christening: 29 JUL 1869 Hambledon, Surrey Father: GEORGE JELLY Mother: ANN
There is no Alice Jelley born Hambledon on the 1871 census. Have you investigate this coincidence to see whether Alice Jelley could be Alice Coombes? For instance Illegitimate people when they married usually covered up their illegitimacy if they could. They often gave their father's name as the same as their own and gave a first name either of their actual father or a male within the family whose occupation they also might have 'borrowed'. Consequently it is never reliable to take the information from a marriage certificate at face value. You always need other records to collaborate the information given on a marriage certificate. When that can't be found you need to question whether it is because it is not correct.
The IGI gives one sibling for Alice Mary Jell(e)y

MARY ANN COOMBS JOHN LICKFOLD Marriage: 03 FEB 1839 Hambledon, Surrey Births Mar 1866 JELLEY Frederick Hambledon 2a 110
A possible marriage for George
Marriages Jun 1865 Jelley George Guildford 2a 92 a possible spouse Parsons Ann Guildford 2a 92
Either of the children's birth certificates would confirm their mother's maiden name.

I think Ann possibly Ann nee Parsons was Alice (Mary) Jelley/Coombes mother . The two Mary Ann's are George's younger sister and his paternal aunt Mary Ann Lickford nee Coombes.
