Hello Heslop. Here are two inscriptions. There is another one but it is after the 1950's cut off date and will not go on this message.
If you still want it I will post it on the personal mail:-
In loving memory of Christopher Heslop, who died 30/September/1926 age 72 years.
Also Mary Ann, his wife, who died 18/February/1939 aged 82 years.
In loving memory of Elizabeth Christina, beloved wife of George Heslop of Witton le Wear, born 7/February/1857, died 26/November/1907.
Also the above George Heslop, born 20/November/185?, died 21/June/1940.
(this stone was laid flat and broken in two)

I have two Scottish, possible relations, John Pilmers age 80 and George Pilmer age 76 brothers, who in the 1901 Census for Witton Le Wear, Durham were shown as farmers. Your Inscription list shows there is at least one Pilmer buried in St Phillips & St James + Municipal Cemetery at Witton Le Mer.
I wonder if you can provide me with the inscription as this will let me verify whether my records are using a birth date or a christening date and I do not have death dates for either one.

Hello Colin. Here is the only inscription for Pilmers:-
In loving memory of my dear uncles John Pilmer of Field House, who died February/4/1905 aged 85 years.
And of George Pilmer, who died February/6/1905 aged 82 years.

In loving memory of William, the beloved son of William and Beatrice Ann Walburn of marshall Green, who died April/2/1905 aged 4 years and 7 months.
Also the above William Walburn, who died April/13/1910 aged 58 years.
Also the above Beatrice Ann, who died October/7/1934 aged 75 years.

Hi Adam
I'm new to this site. Can you help with inscriptions for Smith or Kirkley from Witton Le Wear, please. In particular Thomas Smith from Witton Le Wear who died in Hartlepool, January 1852 aged 29years? He was married to Ann kirkley from Witton Le Wear and 1851 census has them at Waterloo Inn, Prissick Street and he is Inn keeper there at headland Sedgwicksfield.

Hello Carol. I only have the inscriptions for those buried at Witton le Wear so your Thomas Smith and his wife would have been buried at Hartlepool or is last place of residence.
There is one Witton le Wear gravestone for Smith but it is in poor condition. Most of it is very weathered, but here is what can be read.
In memory of Christopher Stephenson, late of the C? ?, Durham, who died August? ?5 years.
Likewise to preserve the memory of Hannah Smith, wife of Robert Smith of Witton le Wear and daughter of ???Dixon of To (possibly Tow Law)
who died January ? 1857 age ??
Also of Judith Ann, daughter of the above named Robert and Hannah Smith, who departed this life in infancy.

Thanks for your help Adam. The names don't seem to match any of mine though. Where do you think my other Smith's or Kirkley's are most likely to have been buried if they resided in Witton Park, Witton Le Wear, around 1851-1901 census. Anglican?  One marriage cert has them down as being married in Witton Le Wear Church in 1843. Can not find any baptisms for children at that time in that area to link them with a particular church? I have tried Durham records on line which is a good source of information but there are so many districts to check through, Its a bit daunting.

Hello Carol. It all depends on where they were living at the time of the death.
If they were living at Witton Park then it could have been Witton le Wear ,
Etherley, or Witton Park municpal cemetery. (I do not have the inscriptions for Witton Park)
I do not know the start date for Witton Park cemetery but I think someone on the board will know.
If they moved to say Hunwick they could be buried there.
I say that because I have 2 gravestones for Kirkley at Hunwick. plus a name on the war memorial.

Hello Harry. Here are the Finley inscriptions :-
In loving memory of Ellen Finley, born 13/September/1861, died 12/June/1926?
In loving memory of Thomas Finley, born 26/February/1857, died 21/March/1929.
The two above were in a double grave, (side by side ) possibly husband and wife?
There are another two gravestones one for Finlay and another for Finley
but they are both are way after the 1950's.
