And so on in Lancashire back to abt 1540....
In 1843 Newman CRABTREE was issued Certificate 8196 issued Chicago - a Land Grant in Mchenry Cty, IL - of 40.15 acres
I can't make out Asa's occupation on the WW1 Draft - is the 2nd word sort of like like Commissionary...? On the 1920 Census ( search for San L CRABTREE) I think it has the same 2nd word, but can't quite make it our, nor the first word looks like - Labourer (for a) --milk ?/ con---------g ??

Found the Grantham's on a passenger list ..they came over on the ERIN ..in 1869 from Liverpool via Queenstown Ireland to NY.
Have also followed up on the Granthams in the UK ...William Grantham (Richard's dad ) = Frances Beels ...found her under the name Beet in 1851 ... and found William with his parents Richard and Rebecca Grantham plus sibs ...all in Caistor Lancs ..
