Tunstall Marriage - Henry TAYLOR

Could anybody please help with more info on the marriage of Henry Taylor and Maria Barker about 1834 in Tunstall. I believe Henry was the illegitimate child of John Savage, I'm hoping there maybe a mention of Savage in the marriage record.

16 OCT 1834      Tunstall, Suffolk, England
is the date of the marriage this is an extracted record so should be correct no other info on the IGI

Thanks for that Judi, hopefully it will help someone find the entry in the parish register for me. As his parents did eventually marry, I'm hoping that they will show as witnesses in the register.

Hi there

From the Tunstall parish registers...

Henry Taylor and Maria Barker were married in Tunstall after banns, with consent of parents, on 16 October 1834. Witnesses were Robert Savedge [sic] and Mary Ann Gibson as well as the clerk, Samuel Fairhead.

Henry and Robert signed 'X' their mark. The others signed with their names.

There is a note in the margin: "Copied for Registrar May 28th 1835". Civil registration hadn't started yet, so I don't know what this means. There are similar notes against other marriages in the registrar - quite often where parental consent had been given.

Thats fantastic Dave, I had managed to trace Henry through the census but could'nt find the connection to Savage to ensure I had the right Henry Taylor, you've given me that connection and I'm now happy to add his family to the tree.
