I waited 3 months for certificates - in the end I rang every single day and demanded to speak to the supervisor only and then I put in a complaint - they had told me the certificates had been sent, then told they were being printed, then told they would resend at no extra cost.

Someday someone might be searching for my death certificate whilst I am still waiting on the one's I wanted to arrive. Tongue Isn't genealogy fun Roll Eyes

I noticed today they are now quoting 8 Weeks for certificates ordered online. Would be nice if they actually gave a reason, instead of just extending the time

I have used Laurie T service for years - the only time there is a delay is if he is on holiday (and he usually advises of same).

What a surprise on Saturday morning, five envelopes from NSW sitting on the door mat!  Yup posted Wednesday so they had taken 7.5 weeks to be done but at last.  Actually a bit of an anti climax since most of them (they were all deaths) didn't have any children which is generally the only reason I buy death certificates post 1907!

I shall definately be using a transcription agent in future, just wish they all did online payments rather than having to send a fax.

You can fax or email your order direct to the transcription agent and give details of credit card OR as I do, electronically transfer the funds to his / her account.

Not a good idea to email credit card details, emails aren't secure unless using some form of encryption which lets face it few people use and both parties have to have the decryption keys!!

Hence the reason I prefer online ordering although as a backup would fax them.  At least you can usually be sure a fax has arrived at the correct destination...

I certainly didn't suggest emailing credit card details when I sent you a PM Nicola. I provide my credit card details by phone & then email my orders - works like a dream

Hi Trish

No you didn't suggest that in your PM yesterday.

However, James does appear to suggest this in his last posting.

Just wanted to ensure that nobody considers doing this since its a surefire way of getting your credit card details stolen!  And UK banks are now apparently getting cute when it comes to reimbursing customers for internet fraud, unless you can prove your haven't used them in a stupid way AND your computer is uptodate with security patches/antivirus/antispyware software, they might not reimburse you.  Suspect they've been having to pay out more than they would like.  The old addage caveat emptor (buyer beware - think thats the correctly spelling) definately applies to providing personal details over the internet too.
